almost every year 80 million international visitors If you want to be one of the millions of people who visit the United States from the United States, you are not alone.
Before you visit, there are some things you need to know, especially if it’s your first time. Depending on where you visit, the culture and way of life can be very different from before.
Read on to learn 5 things you need to know before your trip.
1. ESTA may be required
Countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program in the United States are:
- New Zealand
- Republic of Korea
Almost all European countries are also part of this program. You may need an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) even if you are from a country that does not require a visa.
The ESTA acts as a pre-authorization letter for entry into the United States without a visa. Failing to do so may fall into the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
When this happens, it’s good to know the following: immigration bond.
2. America is big!
When visiting the United States, you should choose a state to visit, unless you plan to travel to that country by car. You can’t see everything, so choose the ones that matter most to you.
3. Public transport is not the best
If you are traveling to the United States from another country, you may be surprised by the public transport options. In general, most cities in the state don’t offer much public transportation.
If you don’t plan on renting a car, you’ll probably use many Ubers or taxis to get from one place to another.
Some major cities are an exception to this and have efficient metro systems. For example, in New York, Portland, Boston, and Chicago, the public can move easily.
4. Meet diversity.
If you stay in the US you will find that not everyone is the same. Many people living in the United States have immigrated from their home countries.
You will see a lot of diversity and you will have a chance to find someone just like you.
5. You must be 21 to drink alcohol.
Unlike in other parts of the world, you must be over 21 to drink in the United States. This is often a culture shock for some who visit the United States when they are young.
The stupid thing about it is that you only need 18 to enlist in the military, vote and smoke.
If you are under the age of 21, you will not give up buying alcohol because the state has strict alcohol laws. ID must be presented.
