Reports suggest that Lionel Messi will remain at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, despite rumors that he could return to Barcelona.

Messi struggled for a goal and was knocked out in the second round of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

However, according to Marca, Messi will remain at PSG after a disappointing season.

After leaving Barcelona emotionally last year, he signed a two-year contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

And he is expected to review a contract with the club, although he currently has no options for another year.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to leave Rhys James out of the England squad due to an injury, with Luke Shaw being the only professional full-back.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel made the news after a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday secured a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

“The advice is not to go,” he said.

“He’s still undergoing personal training, otherwise we would have taken him to Lille and we would have definitely brought him here.

“There is no doubt about it. He needs another week of rehabilitation and he thinks we can provide much better.

“It’s not the national team’s job to do this.”

Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell is expected to be called in to replace him.

In the transfer news, the report suggests Aston Villa are in a dramatic position to sign Leeds’ Kalvin Philips.

According to The Times, Villa are willing to pay White £60m for England and the aces.

And Steven Gerrard is planning to lure Phillips into a hefty salary, The Times asserts.
