Botas’ view of the Bahrain GP
Valtteri Bottas is bullish for the Bahrain GP despite Friday’s raucous free practice session.
The Alfa Romeo driver was unable to complete the timed lap during FP1 due to mechanical issues.
However, Finn counterattacked again in FP2 and finished sixth.
Ahead of Saturday’s race, Bottas said: “We recovered strong in FP1 and ended the day with an important session and lots of laps. So I can say we saved the day.
“At the beginning of the season, like everyone else, there is still a lot of room for improvement. But you can tell for sure that there is a possibility. While running, I did it in evening sessions, and the car felt really good, especially at high fuel.
“We feel we are not far from where we want to be, which is really positive. It will be interesting to see what it will be like now, when everyone throws everything they have in the qualifiers tomorrow.
“But it’s time to see and learn from the data we’ve gathered with Zhou and the team.”
