According to Pickard Home & Garden, terracotta pots will ruin the plant by drying out the plant and damaging the roots.

YouTuber Meryem, a gardener, says, “I never recommend using these pots to grow plants from seeds.”

Gardeners continue to say that the clay absorbs water, so the material can dry out the plants. In other words, it must be managed continuously.

She also says the lack of flexibility in popular flowerpots can cause the roots to stick to the bottom when you try to move the plant to another container or ground.

“I don’t really like these pots. They’re not good pots at all.”

A woman is struggling to move a dill plant from a terracotta pot to the ground from the camera.

She recommends using plastic flowerpots instead of these cheap ones.

Another horticultural expert named Madeline, who runs the small business Mad Plant Finds, says the pots break easily.

She also explained: “Some people like terracotta, but I usually don’t need to water it more often (the clay absorbs the water). I’m a lazy parent who grows plants.”

Because clay absorbs so much liquid, terracotta pots can easily grow white mold or mildew.

You can keep your plants healthy by filling the bottom of the pot with old cans and newspapers.

In addition to planting seeds in the wrong type of pot, you can also plant your seeds in the wrong location in your yard. But one horticultural expert knows where to put the flowers.
